Steve and I met with the surgeon today. All looks good. Papillary cancer of the thyroid. Common and treatable. No problemo!! :) A little surgery to take out the thyroid, and if they find it in lymph nodes, they take those out also. It doesn't usually spread, so that's it. I may have to see an oncologist but that is decided after surgery. I will stay overnight (I haven't tried talking him out of that yet :), but if I stay overnight, I'll go home the next morning. 2 weeks off work (maybe). If all goes well I can go back earlier. He said the worst part is that after the thyroid is removed they wait until my body goes to hypothyroid mode before they start the supplements. At that point people get really tired. (Nothing some Maxwell house and M&M's can't handle :) That all sounds good to me. I was happy with the visit as was Steve. They will call us with a time and date in the next day or so.
The girls and I decided cancer is just not a "nice" word. It brings every one's mind straight to badness. So we decided to say I am having a goiter removed (because goiter is a funny word :) and it's name is George. Now, if this was super serious we would keep the word cancer, but we're ok, so there's no since in scaring people :) I also had someone say "cancer" is a little "c", "Christ" is the big "C". I REALLY liked that. Thanks Lisa! As long as we keep everything in perspective and keep the focus on the right "C", it's all good! I'll let ya know when surgery is schedule, until then, life as usual. Thanks for the prayers! You all mean so much to us!!

I can't help but smile about how you think you are going to leave the next morning:) I remember going to visit you at the hospital after one of your girls were born and you had left the hospital within 24 hours!!! You really amaze me girl!!
I had my thyroid gland removed for cancer and so far have no serious after-effects--just medication every day.--Aunt Millie
