Yes I got called for Jury duty. It said you can't asked to be "dismissed" for child issues. So I didn't try and I prayed I wouldn't get called. Well wouldn't you know it, I had to report Tuesday am, the same day Brooke had 2 MD appointments. I already had off work to go to her appointments, now I had to rethink my schedule again. I was not happy because I had alot of questions for her MD's. So Steve went to the appointments. He also told me that I wouldn't get picked, because the scowl I had on my face no one would want me on their jury. HEHEHEHE! Well I didn't get picked and Steve had ALL my questions answered. Once again, God was telling Shelly to get over herself and that others are very capable.Over all Brooke is doing well. She went to the neuro-developemental MD. I questioned if swallow studies are needed. They said no/not now. They really feel her lack of eating is mind over matter. (she has a VERY strong mind). Maybe in the future they'll want to do one, but they said just keep doing what we are and slowly it should come. I should say S L O W L Y!!!
She is 30" long and 21#. 21# is on the growth chart!!!!! That is almost a cause for a cake celebration :) Her developmental MD is going to talk with her therapist and see where she is going and what else we need to do, but overall, good progress.
Then to clinic. Her BMT (transplant MD) said all looks well. Her labs are stable. Her cortisol (steroid) level was up. I was much more excited than they were. That means she may have started making some of her own steroids. That would be huge! But they said cool your jets and lets just see what the next levels bring. (I can be excited if I want :) They have checked her calcium levels and vit D and so far all those looked good. (that is for bone health). BMT MD will talk to her endocrinologist and see if there is anything else to do regarding her bone health, but it sounds like we are doing everything we can now.
Her next appointment in June 25. 5 days away from the twins 2 year birthday. They will then start checking her T cells again. We are ready! I always try not to get my hopes up because we've been let down so many times, but I can't help it! I have a good feeling. She is an amazing little girl and I believe she is living proof prayer works. I was reading something yesterday that made me think of Brooke. It was talking about living in faith and not letting the devil get you down. It said to stand firm with the shield of faith and the devil won't get near you. It goes on to say you are better off with the shield of faith than a rubber suit or walking around in a big bubble. It's a book for kids and it made me giggle. So simple yet so true. We always kid around we are going to put Brooke in a bubble. That won't protect her. Only He can! We obviously have to be wise (God gave us brains for a reason), but when I find her mixing her sippy cup of water in the flower pot to make mud I don't fret. She is not suppose to play in dirt BUT she's 2. Good luck with that. When I find her sucking on lava rock in the front yard I smile. It's not a sandwich but it's progress :) She is God's little Masterpiece! As are the other 4 little Masterpieces running around this place.
