We gained an inch in 1 month! WHOO HOOO! Grow Brookie, Grow!! We found that out Friday when we went to the feeding clinic appointment. She hadn't been there in 6 months. You see, we have a different approach than them. I am not saying ours is right. I'm just explaining my point :) After our last appointment in August I had MANY reservations. To the point Steve ended up talking to the MD and having them relax a little bit. We had another appt scheduled in January. I had told Steve the day before our appt, "I'm not feeling it. " He said to cancel it. Why set us or them up for disaster. So I set up another appt. Can't dodge them forever. I also continued to pray God leads us in this path. Gives is peace, and if He could get Brooke to eat before we start the intensive clinic, I'd appreciate that.
I went to the appt, feeling good and peaceful. It was all ok. The NP I met with was a different person. She usually comes in and her "my way or the highway" personality. But I did not see that. (Steve says the chart is flag, "LOOK OUT FOR THIS MOM." ). I'm ok with that. She asked her questions. I answered. She told me we'd get into the intensive feeding clinic the end of summer/beginning of fall. I explained that would not work with Steve's harvest schedule. She look annoyed. I then asked her, "what % of children with feeding tubes can get rid of it, with out this clinic?" Again, she looked annoyed, and told me it's a very slim percent. So I then told her I wanted to start outpatient feeding therapy again, at Spectrum this time. It just came to me, that's what we need to do now. It's God nudging me, that the time is right. I also have someone that is looking into a behavioral specialist for Brooke. We are just exploring every option.
So that's the current story. God is working on us. I am no longer saying, "NO" to intensive feeding clinic. But I am getting in touch with some people that have been through the program to get the inside scoop. I will still continue to pray she eats more and more.
Brooke eating a dog log, "swiss cake rolls". We are not the ones that named them "dog logs," that comes from Uncle Gregg. Some said they thought dog logs were dog poop. If you look at swiss cake rolls they do resemble that. :) But they are ohhh so yummy.
On another note, Brooke has been wearing undies for a week. Awhile ago she said she was "potty trained" but she quit! What a disappointment! Her MD even suggested we call her urologist. My thought was to give it til summer. A week or so ago, Uncle Jon stopped by. Aunt Cassie is going to have a baby in April. Uncle Jon told Brooke she has to get rid of the diapers because his baby is going to need them. I thought that was cute but we have offered the kid the world. How is that going to work? It seems to have worked. No more diapers at the Koemans. We have graduated to a new stage in life. And we owe Uncle Jon big time. Steve said taking him out to dinner is cheaper than diapers :)
Blessings to all!!
