De-throning the Princess!

Most of you know this already.  But for those that don't I thought I'd share.  The girls were on T.V.!!!  I got a call in January asking if Brooke could be like the ambassador child for Make a wish.  Otsego school was raising money for Make a wish and it's nice if they can pair it up with a child.  After all Make a wish did for us, this was really no problem. 
January 30 I got a call and they said, Fox News had interviewed the school and wanted to interview us.  WHAT!?!?!?  Holy smokes!!!  I can honestly say I was not excited.  They were talking about coming to our house, that day!!!  To say the least my house was not news worthy.  With 5 kids my house is never news worthy.  Obviously God heard my plea because they said the news would just call us.  The house was just a small worry.  We don't keep Brooke's history a secret, she is who she is.  But we don't broadcast it either.  Don't really feel the need for extra attention about it.  Anyway, to late, she was on the news.  Here it is!

January 30 Make a Wish Otsego schools

The follow up to that was we went to Otsego's basketball game, they acknowledged Brooke and gave her a crown at their "Snow coming."  The kids at the school were so sweet and had such a passion for what they were raising money for.  They were so kind to us and to Brooke.  A great group of kids, that the school and their parents should be proud of!  We had so much fun!!

February 8 Otsego school Make a Wish

With all that being said, what a strange experience. Anything we can do to raise awareness and funds for Make a Wish and Give Kids the World we are all about!  They are both non profits that forever hold a place in our hearts. 
With all of our experiences the last month Brooke has been feeling like quite the "princess."  However, in the Koeman household, she is Brooke, daughter to Steve and Shelly, and sister to a bunch of other girls.  She had a different start to life, but she is no different or better than any of our princesses.  Brooke has protested this the past few days but I think she is starting to understand.  (yes we are mean parents.)  We don't want any of the girls to feel less, left out or resentful.  Who knows, as parents you just do your best and let God do the rest. 

Since Brooke got a crown it only seemed right Macy needed a crown.  So she picked one out on Saturday.  But they had to have their pictures taken separately!
