Week 20

I apologize for the delay. I thought I updated the blog on Sunday, I guess I did not. I call those "brain farts." Anyway, tomorrow, Wednesday is Brooke's 20th week of being at Spectrum. Where did the time go?? Steve and I have to be honest, time has gone so fast. We have learned so much and Brooke has come such a long way. The last few days she has been making progress. Her feedings are going ok. During the day she get bolus feedings, which is 3 1/2 ounces every 4 hours and at night they run the feedings all night. That will hopefully get her all the calories she needs. As time goes on we will increase the amount of feeding she is getting. She is tolerating it ok. Not always tops on her list of fun things to do, but she's getting use to it. Her pain is getting better. She is off morphine and just on tylenol. The MD's feels she still has swelling from the surgery which will cause pain, but she needs more time. We have all the time in the world. She had be coughing/choking on her spit all weekend. It must have hurt to swallow and that is slowly coming around. She was up today in her highchair, smiling and playing. My mom has been there since Monday am so I could work and go to Ashley's field trip. Ashley had a riot with "mommy time" today. Steve is planting and we pray it continues to dry up so he can continue. As much as I LOVE having him around, I realize how blessed I have been these past 20 weeks. Not everyone is so fortunate to have a great husband that can rearrange his schedule and choses to be so involved. Now it's time for him to work. Please pray Brooke continues to progress so well and that her swallowing comes back quickly. Also pray for the girls. They are taking on responsibility this week with Tulip Time and getting themselves ready in their costumes and having quite a few babysitters. (they say they like it, but I worry about them.) I can't thank you all enough for all your help and support. This has been such an eye opener to our family and such a learning experience for the girls. We can all see and feel your love and kindness.
